Marine Corps Confidence Course
You will complete the Confidence Course twice while at boot camp. The course has 11 obstacles that will challenge you both mentally and physically.
1. Parallel logs: These are three horizontal logs of increasing height. You must jump on the first one which is about 2 feet off the deck to give you enough height to jump to the second, which is about 5 feet off the deck. Next you jump to the highest log, which is about 8 feet off the deck and slide your body up and over the log, landing on the deck on the other side.
2. Weaver: This is a series of logs in a pyramid shape. They are parallel to one another with about 18 inches in between each log. The
object of this obstacle is to go over and under each log alternating as you go.
3. Skyscraper: This is a tall series of platforms which you must use your buddies to climb up to each level.
4. Slide for life: This is a rope stretched across a pool of water. You must crawl across the rope to the end without falling into the water.
5. Parallel bars: Two bars parallel to each other which you must walk across using only your hands. Your arms are locked out at your sides and you move your self across by reaching forward with each hand.
6. Arm Stretcher: This is a series of horizontal parallel bars stacked to a height of about ten feet. The object on this one is to climb the bars without using your feet. The bars are stacked a diagonal angle so you are not able to use your feet while climbing. Once at the top you slide over the top bar and climb down the other side.
7. A-Frame: The A-Frame is a combination obstacle. On one side you climb up a wooden ladder to a height of about 30 feet. Once at the top, you grab onto a rope and lower yourself down the other side.
8. High walls: These are just like they sound. A series of solid wooden walls about 8 – 10 feet high which you must get over.
9. Horizontal log: This is a horizontal log about 5 feet off the deck which you must get your body over.
10. Balance log: This is log which you must walk up one side and down the other while maintaining your balance.
11. Rope Swing. This is a rope that is hung above a ditch. You must run and jump, grab the rope and swing across the ditch without falling off the rope.
